More Sleeping Tips/Random Facts

Did you know when you sleep your 8, or more hours, that's really wasting time? The only time our body gets rested is during "REM sleep" This is only around 2 hours of sleep a day that is needed. this doesn't mean sleep 2 hours straight everyday and you'll be fine though. You need to trick your body into going into REM sleep.

Napping 6 times a day, for 20 minutes. This gives you 2 hours of REM sleep. A lot of people can't do that because of work, school, or other activities but this doesn't mean you can't take advantage of napping.

If you take a 20-30 minute nap, this knocks off around 2 hours you would of been sleeping regularly, so you would be able to sleep for 6 hours and feel rested. A lot of people think naps mess up sleep but no, it just allows you to sleep less while still feeling good.

Do you have any problems with nightmares? Well, if you do change how you are sleeping. If you wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare, shift your body, turn over or anything just lay differently. If you go back to sleep in the same position the nightmare is more likely to continue.

Also, dreams have never been proven to mean anything but random bits of data going through your mind. Some are influenced by outside sounds too. Such as the TV or people talking while they sleep.

Keeping a dark and silent room is also helpful since humans were meant to sleep in the dark and wake with the sun.

Hope you sleep better now.

  4. I used to have insomnia so bad that even the strongest prescription sleeping pills did not work. I did not consume caffeine. Turns out, the cause was aspartame. I gave it up completely and now sleep as I did when I was a kid (mostly).
